More Javascript, trying to make something like the classic Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord. It all broke down when I realized that basing the map on cells instead of individual walls makes adding doors a big problem. Anyway, that's where it is.

Arrow keys to move, hit TAB to see the overhead map.

My brother and I rented Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord as a Nintendo game. We played it for days. Crazy good for such a bare-bones RPG. It became an obsession. We had to have Wizardy 6: Bane of the Cosmic Forge when it came out. I am actually re-playing that game right now as a DOS-Box game. I can’t wait to finish so I can play Crusaders of the Dark Savant and then Wizardry 8 (which I beat years ago). I wish someone would bring back the series. They made some attempts to do other style RPG games using the Wizardry brand, but I couldn’t get into them. Man, this brings back some memories!

Right on, I first played that on a Nintendo on a tiny TV, one of those things that will stick with you forever 🙂 There is a new iPhone game under the Wizardry brand but I kept feeling like I was going to hit the wrong button and wipe out the party. One day I hope to flesh this out a bit more, building the maps and fake 3d graphics was a lot easier than I thought.

But of course, this is a completely nostalgic exercise 🙂
